I tried uninstalling the device drivers and reinstalling through windows to no avail. I've since deleted the extra entries and restored another to the value that it previously held, but i'm locked out of the synaptics options completely. I searched google and found a bunch of results linking to articles that talk about adding an entry in the registry for synaptics to add-in the option, but unfortunately, I think these articles were for a different model, because after adding these entries, my touchpad no longer works at all (except for at the login screen oddly enough.) I realize I was dumb and should have backed up my registry settings beforehand, but i'm not sure what to do now. Normally, most laptops either have a function key, or an option somewhere within the synaptics drivers that allow this specific function, however this machine doesn't seem to have one. I'm having issues with disabling my touchpad when a mouse is plugged in.
